While browsing and interacting with the Site, cookies, tags, pixels, or other trackers or similar technologies (hereinafter “cookies”) may be installed on the user’s computer or device, subject to the choices and options expressed by the user, or that the user may express at any time, in accordance with this cookie management policy. These cookies and the data collected through them are used by Zenchef as well as by third-party companies/partners listed below and in the cookie management module.
Our cookie management policy explains what “cookies” are, details the types of cookies we use on the Site, and specifies the rights you have regarding the acceptance or refusal of cookie installation.
1. What is a cookie?
1.1 A cookie is a small file for storing and retrieving information, generally consisting of alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers), placed by a web server on the computer or electronic device of a website user in order to send state information to the browser and receive such information back from it. State information may include, for example, a session identifier, language, expiration date, response domain, etc.
1.2 Cookies are commonly used to obtain certain information about a user’s browsing habits, computer, or device, in particular to improve the content and services offered by the website concerned, to measure website traffic, and to provide users with personalized services.
1.3 The concept of cookies as used in this cookie management policy includes all types of trackers or similar technologies that read or write data on the user’s device, such as:
- HTTP cookies;
- other techniques, including:
- local shared objects (sometimes called “Flash cookies”);
- local storage implemented via HTML5;
- device fingerprinting;
- identifiers generated by operating systems (advertising or otherwise: IDFA, IDFV, Android ID, etc.);
- hardware identifiers (MAC address, serial number, or any other device identifier);
- etc.
1.4 In any event, cookies may be:
- session cookies, which disappear when the user leaves the browser or the Site; or
- persistent cookies, which remain until their lifespan or validity expires, or until the user deletes them via browser settings or through the cookie management module available on our Site.
2. What are the main “families” of cookies?
There are two main categories of cookies, subject to different legal regimes.
a) “Necessary” cookies not subject to user consent
So-called “necessary” cookies—those whose sole purpose is to enable or facilitate electronic communication to, from, or on the Site, or that are strictly necessary for providing an online communication service expressly requested by the user—are exempt from the requirement to obtain user consent prior to installation.
Zenchef may therefore use such “necessary” cookies, in particular technical cookies essential for browsing the Site and cookies strictly required to provide certain services explicitly requested by the user, without requesting your prior consent.
If the user disables these “functional” cookies, for example via browser settings, they may be unable to access the Site and/or may not properly receive or view the content and information available on the Site and/or may not benefit from all Site functionalities.
b) Other cookies subject in principle to user consent
The use of other cookies, as described below, is in principle subject to the user’s prior consent. The user may freely:
- accept them by expressly consenting to their installation and reading in their browser (with the possibility of withdrawing consent at any time under the conditions described in Article 4); or
- refuse them.
For more details about the cookies used on the Site and their purposes, users are invited to consult Section 3 below.
Please note that the scope of your consent covers the entire Site (zenchef.com and its subdomains). For example, during your first visit to zenchef.com, the consent management module will appear and your choice will apply to all pages of the Site, including the blog.zenchef.com subdomain. Conversely, if your first visit is on blog.zenchef.com, your choice will also apply to zenchef.com.
3. Which cookies do we use and for what purposes?
The cookies that we and our partners may install on your device may serve the purposes described below.
3.1 Necessary cookies not subject to user consent
On all pages of the Site (zenchef.com and its subdomains), the following “necessary” cookies may be read/installed.
On the blog.zenchef.com subdomain (allowing access to go.zenchef.com), additional “necessary” cookies may be read/installed.
3.2 Cookies subject to prior user consent
On the blog.zenchef.com subdomain, additional cookies subject to prior consent may be read/installed.
On the blog.zenchef.com subdomain, additional cookies subject to prior consent may be read/installed.
*Some third-party cookies, notably those set by advertisers, have expiration periods exceeding six months. In such cases, we ensure that our cookie management module renews the user’s consent no later than every six months. If consent is not renewed, such cookies will be deleted/uninstalled.
4. When and how do we collect your consent for cookies? What are your rights?
4.1 Consent conditions, scope, and exceptions
4.1.1 The installation and reading of cookies are in principle subject to user consent, meaning a freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous indication of the user’s wishes, given separately for each cookie purpose.
Consent is collected via our cookie management module (displayed on the first visit and accessible at any time via the icon at the bottom left of the Site).
Users may accept cookies:
- globally by clicking “Accept all”;
- or selectively by clicking “Customize my choices” or “Learn about our cookies.”
Important:
- Consent is optional and may be refused.
- Consent may be withdrawn at any time via the cookie management module.
- Unless otherwise indicated, your choice is stored for six months, after which consent will be requested again.
4.1.2 Scope of consent
Consent given on the first page visited applies to all pages of the Site, including subdomains. However, users may change their choices at any time.
4.1.3 Exception for “necessary” cookies
Necessary cookies are installed by default and do not require consent. They cannot be refused via the cookie management module, although they may be disabled via browser settings (which may affect Site functionality).
4.2 How your cookie choices are collected
The cookie management module contains information for users about cookies that may be installed/read on their device when browsing the Website (see also the details of these cookies in paragraph 3 of this cookie management policy). It is displayed when the user first connects to our Site and then, regardless of the user's choice (global consent, partial consent, or refusal), is redisplayed every 6 months. It is also redisplayed if the user deletes their cookies using their browser's features.
The module offers the user several choices:
- either consent to the use of all cookies by clicking on “Accept all” on the first screen of the module: all cookies will then be installed;
- either refuse the use of all cookies by clicking on “Continue without consent” on the first screen of the module: only cookies deemed “necessary” will then be installed;
- or customize their choices to manage the cookies they accept (or do not accept) in a more detailed manner. In this case, the user is invited to click on the “Customize my choices” button. This will take them to a second settings screen where they can consent to or refuse the use of all cookies by using the switch (or slider) next to “Select all/Deselect all” and then clicking on “Confirm” to confirm their choice. They can also consent to the use of all cookies by clicking on the “Accept all” button. They can also make a granular choice, cookie by cookie, by checking or unchecking the switch (or slider) of their choice dedicated to each of the cookies concerned. In this case, they must click on “Confirm” to confirm their choices. However, it should be noted that “necessary” cookies, which are not subject to prior consent, are installed by default and cannot be refused by the user via our cookie management module (regardless of the choice or settings made on the module).

To access our cookie management module, click on the icon at the bottom left of any page on our Website. In any case, you may freely withdraw your consent to the use of cookies at any time by disabling one or more cookies, as explained below.
4.3 How to change your cookie choices
You have several options at any time to change the choices you have made regarding cookies, in particular to withdraw your consent or object to their use (see installation/reading of cookies on your device).
4.3.1 You can, at any time, simply and free of charge, on a cookie-by-cookie basis, choose to withdraw your consent or object to the use of cookies other than those deemed “necessary” on your computer or device using the cookie management module. To do so, simply click on the icon accessible at the bottom left of all pages of our Site, and proceed with the desired settings – see practical details presented in 4.2 above.
4.3.2 If you prefer, you can also use the other options below.
a) Configuring your browser
Although most browsers are configured by default to accept cookies, users can, if they wish, choose in their browser settings to accept all cookies, systematically reject them, or select which cookies they accept based on the issuer (provided the browser offers this functionality). Users can also regularly delete cookies from their device via their browser.
In any case, these actions must be performed on each device: tablets, smartphones, computers, etc.
You can freely configure your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) so that cookies are:
- Accepted and saved on your device: in this case, cookies embedded in the pages and content you visit will be systematically stored;
- Rejected: in this case, cookies embedded in the pages and content you visit will not be stored;
- Prompted for each decision: in this case, the storage of cookies will be subject to your approval or refusal each time.
To configure your cookie acceptance or refusal, you must take into account the configuration of each browser, as it differs and evolves regularly. You should refer to your browser’s help menu, which will explain how to modify your cookie preferences. Examples:
- Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=fr&hlrm=en
- Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/protection-renforcee-contre-pistage-firefox-ordinateur?redirectlocale=fr&redirectslug=autoriser-bloquer-cookies- and https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/cookies-tiers-et-protection-contre-pistage?redirectslug=desactiver-cookies-tiers&redirectlocale=fr
- Internet Explorer: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/help/17442/windows-internet-explorer-delete-manage-cookies
- Safari: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/fr-ww/cookies/ and https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/fr-ww/
- Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/microsoft-edge-donn%C3%A9es-de-navigation-et-confidentialit%C3%A9-bb8174ba-9d73-dcf2-9b4a-c582b4e640dd
- Opera: https://help.opera.com/en/latest/security-and-privacy/ and https://help.opera.com/en/latest/web-preferences/#cookies
Finally, it should be noted that, with current technology, browsers:
- Do not all allow cookies to be distinguished by purpose (meaning you are often forced to choose between “accept all” or “reject all”);
- Do not all allow users to give valid consent (meaning that even if you consent via your browser, we may request specific consent under the terms described above before installing or reading cookies requiring your consent);
- Do not all allow choices for technologies other than strictly “tracking cookies.” Therefore, some cookies, trackers, or similar technologies may still be installed or activated despite your refusal in the browser settings (e.g., device fingerprinting).
Therefore, for managing your cookie preferences on the Site, it is recommended to use the dedicated cookie management module provided on the Site (see above).
b) Configuration via interprofessional digital advertising platforms
Several professional advertising platforms also allow users to set their preferences regarding targeted or behavioral advertising implemented by the companies that participate in these platforms. In general, these centralized mechanisms do not block all advertisements but prevent the display of targeted/behavioral ads, tailored to the user’s interests based on their internet activity and previous browsing behavior.
For example, the website youronlinechoices.com lists a large number of companies that work with websites to collect and use information necessary for behavioral/targeted advertising. This site is provided by digital advertising professionals grouped under the European Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) and is managed in France by the Interactive Advertising Bureau France. This European platform is shared by hundreds of online advertising professionals and serves as a centralized interface, allowing users to see which companies are registered on the platform and to accept or refuse targeted/behavioral ads on their device based on their browsing information.
On this site, you can control and define your preferences for targeted/behavioral advertising by selecting or deselecting all companies, or by setting preferences for each company individually. Note that you may need to repeat this process for each browser you use.
As another example, a similar platform run by the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) is available here: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/?c=1, offering similar functionalities.
While these platforms allow you to manage your targeted advertising preferences, they do not necessarily block general advertising, nor the installation of all cookies.
Therefore, for managing your cookie choices on the Site, it is recommended to use the dedicated cookie management module provided on the Site (see above).
c) Use of third-party tools available online
Some cookie providers that we use on the Site offer dedicated opt-out tools. Therefore, it is recommended that users consult the information pages referenced in the table above (see the details of the cookies we use) to identify these tools if applicable.
For example, users can find specific information about the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/181881?hl=fr&ref_topic=2919631. Users can also choose to disable Google Analytics cookies directly via this page: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Regarding cookies and device identifiers used by Google for ad personalization, users can also disable them via the Google Ads Settings page here: https://adssettings.google.com/anonymous?hl=fr, and manage their use through device settings as described here: https://support.google.com/My-Ad-Center-Help/answer/12155656.
4.3.3 You can also obtain information on how to control your data while browsing the internet on the website of the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) at https://www.cnil.fr/fr/maitriser-mes-donnees, in particular https://www.cnil.fr/fr/cookies-les-outils-pour-les-maitriser.
On this subject, third-party cookies are usually not necessary to use online resources. If you wish to limit your digital footprint, it is recommended to refuse them by default, following the guidance provided by the CNIL.
5. Where can you obtain more information about personal data processing?
Cookies are not, in themselves, considered personal data. However, they may lead to the collection of information that qualifies as personal data, and therefore to the processing of such data.
In this regard, you are informed that by consenting to the installation of all or some of the cookies, you also consent, for the relevant purposes, to the processing of personal data concerning you collected through these cookies. Such processing may involve the handling, combination, and cross-referencing of a significant volume of data about you from various sources.
For any information regarding the processing of your personal data by Zenchef, in particular personal data collected via cookies integrated on our Site, we invite you to consult our data protection policy.
